Fluoroplastic Hose Raw Materials

(ETFE, FEP, PFA)

Fluoroplastic hoses are widely used in chemical, medical, aerospace, industrial and other high-end fields, relying on their excellent corrosion resistance, high and low temperature resistance, flexibility and non-stick properties. The core raw materials for manufacturing high-quality fluoroplastic hoses are three types of high-performance fluoropolymers: ETFE, FEP and PFA. Each has unique characteristics, which can meet the diverse needs of different application scenarios.

Fluoroplastic Tubing Raw Materials

(ETFE, FEP, PFA)

Fluoroplastic tubing is widely used in chemical, semiconductor, medical, aerospace and other high-end fields due to its excellent chemical resistance, high temperature resistance, non-stick and electrical insulation properties. The main raw materials for manufacturing fluoroplastic tubing are the following three types of high-performance fluoropolymers, each with unique characteristics to meet different application needs.

ETFE Resin (Ethylene-Tetrafluoroethylene Copolymer)

Tube

ETFE resin is a high-performance melt-processable fluoropolymer, which is an important raw material for manufacturing special fluoroplastic tubing. Different from ordinary fluoroplastic raw materials, ETFE resin has unique comprehensive properties, making it ideal for high-strength, weather-resistant and light-weight fluoroplastic tubing applications.

Hose

ETFE resin is a melt-processable fluoropolymer with excellent comprehensive performance, which is a specialized raw material for high-strength, weather-resistant fluoroplastic hoses. It is different from ordinary fluoroplastic raw materials and is especially suitable for hoses used in harsh environments.

FEP Resin (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene Copolymer)

Tube

FEP resin is a melt-processable fluoropolymer, mainly in the form of transparent pellets, which can be easily processed into tubing by conventional extrusion (same as ordinary plastics). It has good transparency and flexibility, with a long-term use temperature of -200℃ ~ 200℃, and also has excellent chemical resistance, non-stick and electrical insulation properties. It is specially used for manufacturing transparent fluoroplastic tubing, heat shrinkable tubing, medical hoses and analytical instrument tubing.

Hose

FEP resin is a melt-processable fluoropolymer with excellent transparency and flexibility, which is the preferred raw material for transparent, soft fluoroplastic hoses. It has good processability and is widely used in precision and medical fields.

PFA Resin (Perfluoroalkoxy Resin)

Tube

PFA resin is a high-end fluoropolymer raw material in granular form, which can be processed by extrusion and injection molding. Its temperature resistance is close to PTFE (long-term use temperature: -200℃ ~ 260℃), and it has better processability than PTFE. It is transparent and has high purity, making it suitable for manufacturing high-purity fluoroplastic tubing used in semiconductor, pharmaceutical and other fields with strict requirements on cleanliness and corrosion resistance.

Hose

PFA resin is a high-end melt-processable fluoropolymer, which combines the excellent high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance of PTFE with the good processability of FEP. It is the core raw material for high-purity, high-temperature resistant fluoroplastic hoses.

Fluoroplastic Hose & Tube FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between fluoroplastic hose and fluoroplastic tube?

A1: Fluoroplastic hose is flexible, bendable and easy to install, mainly used for fluid transfer in complex or small spaces; fluoroplastic tube is rigid, with higher structural strength, suitable for fixed installation and high-pressure scenarios. Both use ETFE, FEP, PFA as core raw materials, but their processing processes and thicknesses are adjusted according to flexibility requirements.

Q2: What is the temperature resistance range of fluoroplastic hoses made of ETFE, FEP and PFA?

A2: – ETFE: Long-term use temperature of -200℃ ~ 150℃, suitable for outdoor and harsh temperature environments; – FEP: Long-term use temperature of -200℃ ~ 200℃, adapting to most medium and high-temperature working conditions; – PFA: Long-term use temperature of -200℃ ~ 260℃, ideal for high-temperature fluid conveying.

Q3: How to store fluoroplastic hoses/tubes and their raw materials?

A3: – Raw materials (pellets): Store in a dry, clean, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heat sources and moisture, keep sealed to avoid contamination. – Finished hoses/tubes: Avoid exposure to UV radiation and high temperature, store flat or coiled neatly, do not squeeze to prevent deformation.

Q4: Which raw material is suitable for aerospace or automotive fluoroplastic hoses?

A4: ETFE and PFA are preferred. ETFE has high mechanical strength and weather resistance, suitable for fuel hoses, hydraulic hoses and cable protection hoses; PFA has high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, suitable for high-temperature resistant hoses in aerospace.
